Cingular Text Messaging

Cingular Wireless operates America's largest cell phone network, and is also a major provider of SMS text messaging services. Subscribers may use their Cingular cell phones to exchange messages with any other SMS-enabled cell phone, regardless of what network it uses.

Messages can be sent from a mobile phone, or from a computer through email or Cingular's web-based interface. There are also options to integrate SMS with instant messaging services such as Yahoo and AOL.

Cingular's default service costs $0.10 for each domestic message sent or received (international messages cost $0.20). There are also plans available for frequent users, which allow for discounts of over 90%. Before ordering a plan, however, it is a good idea to make sure you won't be paying for more messages than you can actually use.
